So Portland is the easiest airport to get out of by bike. It started with 3 separate airline/airport staff spontaneously pointing out to me that there was a bike assembly station just around the corner that I could use. Then airport staff were able to easy give me correct (!!!) directions out.

Admittedly, this started with cycling on the hard shoulder of what turned into a highway with 3 lanes in each direction. But the hard shoulder was free and very wide so that cycling there didn't feel dangerous at all, although the cars were annoying.

Annoying cars (just their presence) was a bit of a theme of today since the only way really to cycle in the direction of the coast from Portland seems to be US-30. It wasn't dangerous, but it was boring and even if it wasn't necessarily busy, there were constantly cars and very little to see except the highway.
