The last two days have been almost diametrically opposed camping experiences. The first, a rainy day which extended well into the night; the second, a hot and humid day of around 30 degrees. Both were near the roadside somewhere because I couldn't find a campsite/was to tired/wet/miserable.

Here's what I've learned:

  1. I can put up the basics of my tent in under 2 minutes when pushed
  2. The inside will still get wet during this process
  3. The seams are only semi waterproof
  4. But thanks to the inner layer I'll stay dry even if it rains (heavily) all night
  5. A damp inner tent will attract slugs
  6. The wet tent is MUCH heavier than the dry version
  7. I can put but the tent with only 2 tent-pegs if need be (rather than the usual 9)
  8. It is essential against mosquitoes in Michigan - no open air camping here
  9. I can pitch my tent in the dark
