I'm really beginning to dislike the bridges which cross the Columbia river. This bridge winds up for a while and then down again, staying close to the water until another small up and down section on the other end. I'm glad I wasn't heading towards Astoria.

But in either direction, the bridge is a nerve-grinding 4miles long. That's about 6.5km of side winds, car winds, wobbly bike ad hoping that this car (please) will leave some more room, or at least slow down. Unfortunately, there is not much of a shoulder (less than a packed bike), and the car lanes are quite narrow. This means that unless the cars wait for the opposing traffic to pass, they barely have any room they could give a cyclist. None of this is reassuring when the wind's blowwing you from sode to side. However, it looks impressive once you're done. :D
